Welcome to the Swallow Shed Website

Swallow Shed is a shed, in my garden, where swallows nest every summer and where I create sculpture, pottery, paintings and fabrics.

I also offer craft experiences, gift vouchers, wheel hire, kiln hire or even space hire.

Please take a few minutes to browse my website.

If you would like to visit you can find out how to contact me and where I am by clicking map and directions.

SCULPTURE

This piece "Ballerina" was modelled using terracotta clay. After a drying out period she was kilned and then patinated using metallic and matt spray paint, oil paint and boot polish.

In some cases I make a plaster of Paris or fibre glass resin cast of the model first and then patinate it as above.
Check out my

SCULPTURE GALLERY

for other examples.

POTTERY ~

These pots were hand thrown using white earthenware clay.

After kilning the bottle green glaze was applied before re-kilning. Some of the pieces then required a third kilning where masked designs or wax resist patterns had been applied.

The coasters are examples of hand glazed commercial bisque.

I also throw using stoneware clay and hand build some items too which can be viewed in my

POTTERY GALLERY .

PAINTINGS ~

I have a small collection of framed and un-framed paintings.

I usually work with acrylics and mainly concentrate on still-life or landscape painting.

This painting is a scene in the Orchil Hills in Perthshire, but for other examples see my

PAINTINGS GALLERY.

FABRICS ~

I make a range of cushions using Harris Tweed fabric.

This one features my "Swallow Shed" logo. As well as using genuine Harris Tweed, I use 100% cotton for the backing and satin for the appliquéd design. The cushion pad is genuine duck down from "The White Company" in this case measuring 40cm by 40cm.

I have several different shapes and designs which can be seen in my

FABRICS GALLERY.
